Native to the rainforests of South America, the yellow-footed tortoise roams as one of the largest tortoise species on Earth. From his workshop at the door to the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest, Alex Mermao crafts this miniature sculpture from smoked balsa wood, delivering contrast between the natural color of wood and an earthy brown. The sculpture’s design comes to life with an articulating head and tail, which are attached with metal wire, making it a lively piece to display.
