The white wedge on the back of his head distinguishes the male bufflehead duck. Small and quick, this beautiful bird breeds in forest lakes and bogs in Alaska and western Canada. Nengah Sudarsana depicts the creature in albesia wood, first sculpting the bird, then meticulously painting it by hand in lifelike colors.
